HP CAPITAL Invests in Caixin Global

(BEIJING, 21. April 2023) – Caixin Global announced that HP CAPITAL PARTNERS LTD., a Porsche family fund, has reached an agreement to acquire a significant share of Caixin Global and will become their strategic partner for its further growth in Europe and beyond. The transaction was completed in February 2023.

Established in 2016, Caixin Global welcomes its first European strategic investor, another milestone in the development of its overseas business and a boost to maintain its competitiveness as a leading global English-language financial news platform.

Caixin Global is the first media outlet in China to have a subscription paywall for English language content. It also organizes high-end international conferences and roundtables. Caixin Global will integrate its resources with HP Capital to develop more events, news product in English and other languages, and customized information products suitable for the global market. It will also provide more real-time information and in-depth analysis of China’s financial market to European users.

Caixin Global Sponsors China Markit PMI

The Caixin China PMI was officially released in August 2016. It was obtained by Caixin Media through bidding and was later sponsored by Caixin Global.

The Caixin China PMI includes the Caixin China General Manufacturing PMI and the Caixin China General Services PMI. It is compiled by Markit, a leading financial information service provider, and is released every month. The Caixin China PMI adheres to an objective style with credibility as its guiding principle. Relying on the research capabilities of Markit and Caixin Media, it has achieved in-depth observation and analysis of the economic fundamentals.

Caixin Global Acquire ISI and Successful Exit

In April 2018, Caixin Global participated in an overseas acquisition project led by CITIC Capital. The two parties formed a consortium to fully acquire CEIC and EMIS, two financial data products under Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC (a London Stock Exchange listed company) and integrated them into a unified brand called ISI Emerging Markets Group (“ISI”). ISI Emerging Markets Group is a leading provider of critical, hard-to-obtain macroeconomic, company, and industrial digital intelligence for emerging markets.

In December 2020, the consortium fully exited its investment in ISI Emerging Markets Group and completed the sale to Montagu, a leading European private equity firm.
