Vuk Jeremić is the former Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly. Today, he is the President of the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD) and Editor-in-Chief of Horizons magazine. He is a Professor of Practice at Science Po Paris School of International Affairs.

Vuk Jeremić, former President of the UN General Assembly and Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, is a distinguished diplomat and academic whose career has been defined by his conviction in multilateral cooperation, global governance reform and the pursuit of peace and sustainable development. He was the first runner-up to Antonio Guterres in the official election for UN Secretary General in 2016.
He serves as President of the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD), a global public policy think tank dedicated to strengthening peaceful cooperation among nations through independent analysis of economic, social, environmental, foreign, and security policy. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Horizons, an independent journal devoted to the broad theme of international relations and sustainable development. He is a Professor of Practice at Science Po Paris School of International Affairs and Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
From 2007 until 2012, Jeremić served as Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which he visited over one hundred countries and engaged at the highest levels of international diplomacy. In 2007, as part of his responsibilities as Minister, he chaired the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
In June 2012, Mr Jeremić was directly elected by a majority of the United Nations members to serve as President of the sixty-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly. During his term he played a central role in steering the UN toward the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, facilitated the breakthrough adoption of the Arms Trade Treaty, and convened thematic debates between global leaders on climate change, education, social inequality, international criminal justice, and conflict resolution.
Throughout his career, Mr Jeremić has been a dedicated advocate for multilateralism and greater global cooperation. His extensive experience across diplomacy, global governance and development makes him an excellent contributor to the mission of Global Neighbours as a platform for international dialogue and understanding.
