On 27 July 2026, Global Neighbours was delighted to welcome the New Voices for Europe delegation from Tsinghua University to our office in Vienna for an engaging dialogue on Europe‑China cooperation, youth engagement, and the future of multilateralism.
Our CEO, Siddharth Chatterjee, opened the discussion by reaffirming Global Neighbours’ mission to advance Track 1.5 and Track 2 diplomacy and build bridges between Europe and China through dialogue, trust, and long‑term partnerships. Drawing on Vienna’s role as a global diplomatic hub, he emphasised how connecting people, ideas, and cultures remains as vital today as it was centuries ago.

We also welcomed Prof. Dr. Li Zhang, Director of the Institute of Public Relations and Strategic Communication at Tsinghua’s School of Journalism and Communication, Li Qing, Lead Teacher of the delegation, and sixteen outstanding students drawn from Tsinghua’s Department of Electronic Engineering and Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Over the course of the exchange, we explored how evidence‑based analysis and open dialogue can help bridge differing narratives and close gaps in mutual understanding – particularly by highlighting shared priorities such as connectivity, food security, and responsible technological development. We discussed how youth‑centred exchanges and structured programmes can empower the next generation to lead cross‑border collaboration.
The conversation also touched on practical ways to foster business‑level cooperation, address persistent stereotypes, and create spaces where diverse perspectives can shape a more inclusive global discourse.
The delegation shared valuable insights from their ongoing research programme across Germany and Austria, noting that face‑to‑face interaction continues to be the most powerful way to replace outdated perceptions with real‑world understanding.
A sincere thank you to every participant for this thoughtful, inspiring exchange. We look forward to deepening these connections and turning shared dialogue into tangible action between Europe, Asia, and beyond.
