On March 21, 2025, a high-level delegation from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), led by the Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Wang Dinghua, visited Global Neighbours in Vienna. The delegation included several distinguished heads of university departments: Prof. Wang Jianbin, Director of the Center for Public Diplomacy; Prof. He Jing, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office; Prof. Li Hui, Dean of the School of International Organizations; Dr. Bao Huaying, Division Chief for Strategic Programs; and Yang Hongbo, Director of the Information Technology Center. The event was hosted by Global Neighbours Secretary General Dr. Philipp Rösler.

The meeting facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas on potential academic collaborations, particularly within the framework of the Global Neighbours Train project – an ambitious initiative aimed at exploring the complex and diverse region between Europe and China. The BFSU delegation expressed a strong willingness to support the project and to become its academic partner.

The discussions also covered the possibilities for academic exchanges, internship opportunities, and fellowship programs between BFSU and Global Neighbours. A shared interest emerged in establishing a joint focus group to study not only the relations between Europe and China but also the interactions with Central Asia. Additional areas of potential collaboration include international education standards. The evolving international political landscape was also addressed, further solidifying the consensus on the need for deeper cooperation between Europe and Asia.

Both parties agreed to continue coordinating joint efforts and further strengthen and expand their ongoing communications.
